# What is a verdict in Provely?

**A verdict is the result of one verification attempt. The five values are VERIFIED, PENDING, CONTRADICTED, FAILED, and UNVERIFIABLE. The runtime combines component verdicts with frozen precedence rules. A plugin cannot add a verdict or redefine one.**
